What exactly is “flash”?  
Flash is industry lingo for the artwork that you typically see on the walls of a tattoo shop. Flash has been around since the early days of tattooing and provides both directly tattooable designs as well as ideas and inspiration for customizable tattoos. Artwork that is meant to be tattooed is done in a very specific way, taking into consideration composition as well as longevity. Flash is always a better alternative to the generic Google search. 

Do you do custom designs?
Yes. While we offer a large selection of ready-to-tattoo flash, custom work is always available. If you have an idea, concept, or reference, we'll work together to create a one-of-a-kind design made specifically for you. Flash is optional — custom tattoos are a core part of what we do.

What styles do you do?
We specialize in everything from fine-line to bold traditional. Whether you want something soft and subtle or loud and classic, we’ve got you covered with clean, solid work that holds up over time.

Do you take walk-ins?
We take walk-ins daily on a first-come, first-served basis and recommend this option for smaller, single session tattoos. We can't guarantee availability or wait times since they will vary daily depending on the number of walk-ins we receive. However, we can typically take care of the majority of tattoos that come through the door each day.

Larger, more intricate work may require an appointment. Come in and speak with the artist to determine if an appointment is necessary.

What is your hourly rate?
At Black Bear, we operate on a straightforward pricing system—tattoos are priced by the piece, not by the hour. That means you'll know exactly what your tattoo will cost before we get started, no surprises.
